In this Reader's Theater adaptation of Stellaluna, students step into the story of a young bat who, after becoming separated from her mother, must learn to live as a bird. Stellaluna follows the rules, eats the food, and sleeps when she is told — all to fit in with her new family. But when she is finally reunited with other bats, she begins to wonder — can two very different creatures truly respect one another? Can you honor someone whose world looks nothing like your own?
Perfect for grades 3–5, this play brings the beloved story to life as students discover that true respect means honoring the differences in others — not just tolerating them, but valuing them — even when their ways are nothing like yours.
Respect isn't just getting along.
It’s seeing someone different from you and choosing to honor who they are.
